D.C. Police: Man in custody after firing shots on Cuban Embassy with assault-style rifle
WASHINGTON (ABC7) — D.C. Police have arrested a man who they say fired an assault-style rifle towards the Cuban Embassy in Northwest during the early hours of Thursday morning.
Officers responded to the 2600 block of 16th Street NW for the report of gunshots in the 2 a.m. hour. When they arrived, they found a man with an assault-style rifle and took him into custody. They say the man had arrived in an SUV with Texas license plates and an American flag on top.
There were no injuries reported, and the weapon was recovered. Investigators believe he was shooting towards the Cuban Embassy. Witnesses tell ABC7 they heard multiple gunshots.
The U.S. Secret Service and Metropolitan Police Department are investigating the incident.
