The $250 Cookie Secret Recipe
TIME: 45 Minutes
Most people have heard the tale of the Dallas woman who, while eating lunch at the Neiman Marcus Cafe, was so enamored with the chocolate chip cookies that she inquired about the recipe. It was hers for "only two fifty," the waitress claimed. But when the credit card bill came, the woman was surprised to see that it was close to $300. The recipe ended up costing $250, according to the tale. After years of living with the misconception, Neiman Marcus created a recipe in 1997 and distributed it without charge. With ground oatmeal, almonds, and extra chocolate from a grated Hershey bar (you can use any brand you choose), it's a delectable twist on chocolate chip cookies.
