Gay People Exist Because Pregnant Women Had ‘Anal Sex’, Orthodox Bishop in Cyprus Outrageously Claims
A BISHOP has bizarrely claimed unborn babies turn gay when women have anal sex during pregnancy.
Church of Cyprus bishop Neophytos Masouras made his surreal statement while speaking at a primary school on the island.
Church of Cyprus bishop Neophytos Masouras has outraged people across the world
The Greek Orthodox religious leader claimed homosexuality is “a problem, which is usually transmitted by parents to the child.”
He added: “It happens during the parent’s intercourse or pregnancy. It follows an unnatural sexual act between the parents.
“To be more clear, anal sex. (St Porphyrios) says that when the woman enjoys that, a desire is created, and then the desire is passed on to the child.”
A clip of his outrageous speech quickly went viral on social media in the country, with LGBT rights group ACCEPT asking the holy man: “How are lesbians created?”
Another social media user added: "So, father, if the woman does oral, will the child become a dentist?"
One user commented: “The problem is not this ignoramus, the tragic problem is that there are thousands who believe him.”
Saint Porphyrios, who died in 1991, told gay people to stay single and pray for their sexuality to go away all their life.
Cyprus decriminalised homosexuality in 1998 and has worked hard to tackle archaic conservative views on homosexuality.
However, gay people are still not allowed to serve in the army and same sex couples are not allowed to adopt.
