Stunning Portrait of Ghost Nebula Lights Up the Sky From 550 Light-Years Away

NASA's Hubble Space Telescope caught this colourful snapshot of the Ghost Nebula from an incredible distance of 550 light-years from Earth.

The Ghost Nebula IC 63 is a monstrous swirling cloud of stellar gas and dust in the constellation Cassiopeia the Queen. s Hubble photo portrays the nebula in various hues of pink, blue and violet. Behind the Ghost Nebula are bright stars shining with intense red, orange and blue light. Because of its striking shape and wispy formation, the nebula is known as the “Ghost of Cassiopeia
NASA said: “Powerful gushers of energy from seething stars can sculpt eerie-looking figures with long flowing veils of gas and dust.
“One striking example is ‘the Ghost of Cassiopeia’, officially known as IC 63, located 550 light-years away in the constellation Cassiopeia the Queen.
“The nebula’s ethereal glow might remind people of apparitions such as those reported by paranormal investigators.”
But there is nothing unnatural or ghastly about the cloud of gas.

Instead, its vast clouds of hydrogen gas are “bombarded” by ultraviolet radiation from the nearby blue-giant star Gamma Cassiopeiae.

The giant star is not visible in this photo but it causes the Ghost Nebula to glow in red light.
The blue light visible in the NASA picture is the light reflected by the nebula’s dust.
At 550 light-years, the nebula is located approximately 3,233,244,000,000,000 miles from Earth.
NASA said: “The IC 63 nebula is not the only object under the influence of the blinding star, which unleashes as much energy as 34,000 suns.
“The Ghost Nebula is part of a much larger nebulous region surrounding Gamma Cassiopeiae that measures approximately two degrees on the sky – roughly four times as wide as the Full Moon.
“The constellation Cassiopeia is visible every clear night from mid-northern and higher latitudes.”
According to the US  agency, Cassiopeia is best seen in the sky on autumn and winter evenings.

The Ghost Nebula, however, is not visible to the naked eye without the aid of a large telescope.
The Hubble Space Telescope, which is jointed operated with the European Space Agency (ESA), took the photo in August 2016.
This particular photo is a composite of multiple black and white exposures, adjusted to filter out different wave lights of light.
The picture was then converted into a colourful image by prescribing a different hue to each wavelength.

Wondering something to Eat "Bacon Explosion"

How to cook Bacon Explosion This concoction and Internet sensation came to The Times from Jason Day and Aaron Chronister, who created it shortly before Christmas one year in Roeland Park, Kan. They modestly call it “the BBQ Sausage Recipe of all Recipes.” It contains at least 5,000 calories and 500 grams of fat, but you don’t have to eat it all at once. It is not for vegetarians, ascetics or the faint of heart — instead, consider it a delicious challenge to your abilities at the grill. RECIPES FOR BACON 2   pounds thick-cut sliced bacon 1 ½   pounds Italian sausage, casings removed 3   tablespoons barbecue rub ¾   cup barbecue sauce HOW TO COOK BACON  STEP 1 Using 10 slices of bacon, weave a square lattice like that on top of a pie: first, place 5 bacon slices side by side on a large sheet of aluminum foil, parallel to one another, sides touching. Place another strip of bacon on one end, perpendicular to the other strips. Fold first, third and fifth bacon strips...

Bella Shmurda honors Mohbad with ‘KPK’ performance in UK

Bella Shmurda honors Mohbad with ‘KPK’ performance in UK Nigerian singer and songwriter Bella Shmurda paid homage to his late friend and colleague Mohbad by performing his smash hit ‘KPK’ at a UK show. Mohbad, whose real name was Ilerioluwa Oladimeji, died in a car crash in December 2023, leaving behind a musical legacy that moved many people. Bella Shmurda’s rendition of ‘KPK’ was a heartfelt tribute to his buddy, and it revealed the strength of their bond. In a world where many forget their friends after becoming successful, Bella Shmurda’s act reminded us that true friendship is more than just fame and money. The crowd cheered and sang along to every word of the song. It was an emotional moment that demonstrated the influence of Mohbad’s music on people’s lives, and the admiration and affection that Bella Shmurda had for his friend. After the show, Bella Shmurda talked about his friendship with Mohbad, saying, “He was not just a friend to me. He was like a brother, and I miss h...

Drinking Water Crisis in Rural Towns

Drinking water is essential for life, but many rural towns in the U.S. are struggling to provide safe and reliable water to their residents. For decades, these towns have neglected their drinking water systems, resulting in aging infrastructure, water quality violations, and financial challenges. In this blog post, we will explore some of the causes and consequences of this crisis, and what can be done to address it. Causes of the Crisis One of the main causes of the crisis is the shrinking population of many rural towns. As people move to urban areas or other states, the tax base and the customer base of the water systems decline. This means less revenue to cover the costs of operation, maintenance, and improvement of the water systems. According to a report by the American Bar Association³, in 2015, 9 percent of all water systems had a documented violation of water quality standards, exposing 21 million people to unhealthy drinking water. These violations were more likely to occur in...

What is happening in the suez canal? Suez Canal Is Blocked by Container Ship Causing Huge Traffic Jam

Suez Canal Is Blocked by Container Ship Causing Huge Traffic Jam Authorities hope to dislodge the ship within hours as a backlog of vessels builds up on one of the world’s busiest waterways Evergreen’s Ever Given container ship stuck sideways in the Suez Canal, a vital trade route for oil and manufactured goods between Asia and Europe. Egyptian authorities worked to dislodge a giant container ship that remained stuck in the Suez Canal, blocking all traffic on one of the world’s busiest shipping arteries. Authorities hope to dislodge the ship within hours, according to an Egyptian official, as a flotilla of ships waited to resume voyages in both directions. Even if the ship is dislodged quickly, many idled vessels could still be delayed for days,  threatening a new pressure point  in a global supply chain already under intense strain. The Ever Given, a 400-meter (1,312 foot) container ship, Tuesday became stuck in the canal sideways, with its bow wedged in one bank and its ster...
