Pastor rubbed mucus and saliva on his brother's face

Tulsa pastor goes viral with 'nasty' sermon: How has Transformation Church responded?

A Tulsa pastor has gone viral after Transformation Church aired a sermon in which he rubbed mucus and saliva on his brother's face to illustrate a point about receiving God's miracles.

Pastor Michael Todd has become known for widely broadcast sermons seen by congregants across the world, with as many as 24,000 people watching his live-streamed sermons.

On Sunday, Todd's message was about the potential for a negative response for those on whom God is working miracles: "Receiving vision from God might get nasty," he said.

To illustrate, he coughed mucus and spit into his hand and then rubbed it on the face of a man who was on stage with him, his brother Brentom Todd.

When those at the Tulsa church gasped and exclaimed, Todd explained, "How you just reacted is how the people in your life will react when God is doing what it takes for the miracle."

On the church's Facebook page, some followers responded that they appreciated the message that is part of Transformation's series on prayer and fasting. One individual noted that Todd is known for demonstrations in his sermons, though the spit "was in bad taste."

Others said they were disgusted by the illustration that has since gone viral during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic's third surge. "Rubbing spit onto someone’s face isn’t a very good lesson at this sickness time," a commenter said.

One follower who had prayed on the message commented that she felt it showed disrespect. Some followers wanted a response from their church leaders.

On the Transformation Church Facebook post, only one statement was given in response to a critical comment: "We are so grateful for Pastor Mike's and Brentom's obedience to God, allowing themselves to be used, so God's children can clearly receive His word. We pray that as you seek God, He gives you clear vision, and you always remember that."

Later Monday afternoon, Todd tweeted a video acknowledging that, while he watched the playback, "it was disgusting." He called it a distraction to the message and said he owned the mistake.

"Yesterday it crossed the line," he said, adding he hopes those who only saw the shortened clip will explore the full message of the sermon.

Wondering something to Eat "Bacon Explosion"

How to cook Bacon Explosion This concoction and Internet sensation came to The Times from Jason Day and Aaron Chronister, who created it shortly before Christmas one year in Roeland Park, Kan. They modestly call it “the BBQ Sausage Recipe of all Recipes.” It contains at least 5,000 calories and 500 grams of fat, but you don’t have to eat it all at once. It is not for vegetarians, ascetics or the faint of heart — instead, consider it a delicious challenge to your abilities at the grill. RECIPES FOR BACON 2   pounds thick-cut sliced bacon 1 ½   pounds Italian sausage, casings removed 3   tablespoons barbecue rub ¾   cup barbecue sauce HOW TO COOK BACON  STEP 1 Using 10 slices of bacon, weave a square lattice like that on top of a pie: first, place 5 bacon slices side by side on a large sheet of aluminum foil, parallel to one another, sides touching. Place another strip of bacon on one end, perpendicular to the other strips. Fold first, third and fifth bacon strips...

Drinking Water Crisis in Rural Towns

Drinking water is essential for life, but many rural towns in the U.S. are struggling to provide safe and reliable water to their residents. For decades, these towns have neglected their drinking water systems, resulting in aging infrastructure, water quality violations, and financial challenges. In this blog post, we will explore some of the causes and consequences of this crisis, and what can be done to address it. Causes of the Crisis One of the main causes of the crisis is the shrinking population of many rural towns. As people move to urban areas or other states, the tax base and the customer base of the water systems decline. This means less revenue to cover the costs of operation, maintenance, and improvement of the water systems. According to a report by the American Bar Association³, in 2015, 9 percent of all water systems had a documented violation of water quality standards, exposing 21 million people to unhealthy drinking water. These violations were more likely to occur in...

Silken Tofu With Brothy Thai Curry and Herbs

Sconty empire  A jarred red curry paste is the central flavor of this wonderfully restorative and nourishing broth. Coconut milk lends a subtle creaminess, and the cherry tomatoes become bright little jammy bursts. You can use fresh tomatoes when in season, but canned tomatoes do just as well.
