One-Ingredient Banana Ice Cream

This ridiculously simple "ice cream" is the kind of dessert that will appeal to everyone at the table, including vegans, lactose-intolerant people, followers of the paleo diet, and picky kids. Four frozen bananas can be thrown into a blender and given a thorough whirl. Eat it straight away if you prefer a soft-serve consistency (adding a few tablespoons of milk wouldn't hurt, but it's not required). If you want scoops that are more in line with tradition, freeze it in an airtight container and distribute as you would Ben & Jerry's. Think of including a spoonful of honey, Nutella, peanut butter, or chocolate chips; a handful of chocolate chips or almonds; or a half teaspoon of ground cinnamon, ginger, or cardamom.

4 ripe bananas
PREPARATION
Step 1
Peel the bananas, cut them in 2- to 3-inch chunks and place them in a freezer bag in the freezer for at least 6 hours. Remove and blend in a blender until smooth. Serve immediately, or freeze in an airtight container for at least 2 hours. Scoop and serve.
